Olivas Links will be open for play on May 1
The long-awaited date for the reopening of the former Olivas Park Golf Course has been set.
The city of Ventura in conjunction with EAGL Golf Management announced the new Olivas Links Golf Course will reopen for play May 1.
Olivas has been closed since October 2005 and has undergone a massive overhaul.
The new Olivas will be a traditional links-style course. The course measures just more than 6,800 yards from the tips and also features a new practice facility, complete with a driving range with a 55,000-square-foot grass teeing area.
Greg Gilmer, the golf services director for the city of Ventura, said during the initial opening phase, tee times will be 10 minutes apart to reduce the wear and tear on the new layout.
The green fee structure is:
Weekday green fees City of Ventura residents $35; Ventura County residents $41; out of county $44; city of Ventura seniors $25; juniors $17.
Weekend green fees City of Ventura residents $41, Ventura County residents $49; out of county $57.
Gilmer said the EAGL staff is busy setting up the computer system so golfers can begin to make reservations.
An official grand opening event is scheduled for sometime this summer.
