No one hurt as fire erupts at apartment in Hueneme

A fire broke out Monday in a second-floor apartment on the 400 block of East Clara Street in Port Hueneme, but nobody was injured, authorities said.

The fire was reported about 7:45 a.m. and extinguished by 8:30 a.m. The cause was still under investigation Monday, said Capt. Barry Parker, a spokesman for the Ventura County Fire Department. No damage estimate was available Monday.

Firefighters from the county department, the cities of Oxnard and Ventura and Naval Base Ventura County responded to the blaze.
