'The War' to include minorities
Noted filmmaker Ken Burns has agreed to include footage of World War II contributions made by Hispanic and Native American military members in his fall documentary series, "The War."
Responding to continuing pressure from various minority groups, Burns and co-producer Lynn Novick will add the new footage while not changing any of the already-produced content, according to national PBS executives.
In addition, a Hispanic producer will be added to the production to participate in integrating the new material, which PBS officials say will be a major part of the documentary.

Minority groups began protesting several weeks ago that the military contributions of minority groups were being "completely ignored" in Burns' 14-hour chronicle of the World War II battles, scheduled to premiere in September.
In addition to being aired on public television, "The War" will be produced for DVD and on-line services.
"This is a big victory for the Latino community," said Marta Garcia, head of the New York chapter of National Hispanic Media Coalition.
