Morning fire burns Port Hueneme apartment

It took less than 45 minutes to extinguish a fire in a second-floor apartment along the 400-block of East Clara Street in Port Hueneme Monday morning.

There were no injuries reported and damage esitmates were not available as of 9 a.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, said Capt. Barry Parker, a spokesman for the Ventura County Fire Department.

The fire was reported about 7:45 a.m.

In addition to county firefighters, Oxnard and Ventura firefighters and those from Naval Base Ventura County helped fight the blaze.
