HBO out for 'Blood' with Moyer
British actor Stephen Moyer is headed to HBO, joining "Six Feet Under" creator Alan Ball's next project for the network.
Moyer will play the male lead, a vampire, in "True Blood," Ball's adaptation of Charlaine Harris' "Southern Vampire" novels. Brook Kerr ("Passions") has signed on to the show as well, joining the previously cast Anna Paquin, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The show is set in a world where synthetic blood has become widely available, thus allowing vampires to come out into the open. A community of them settles in a Louisiana town, paving the way for a romance between one of them (Moyer) and a waitress (Paquin) who's telepathic.
Kerr will play one of Paquin's co-workers.
Earlier this pilot season, Moyer took the lead role in Fox's drama "Company Man" (aka "NSA Innocent"). The role was reconfigured and recast (with "Roswell" alumnus Jason Behr), however, freeing up Moyer for "True Blood."
Moyer's credits include "Quills" and the 2001 NBC movie "Uprising." He's appeared in a number of series on British television and next will be seen in USA's miniseries "The Starter Wife," which debuts in May.
