Ventura City Council update on 'sphere of influence' ahead
The Ventura City Council tonight will review possible updates to the city's "sphere of influence" boundaries that govern where future development can occur.
The Local Agency Formation Commission oversees spheres of influence, a planning designation for a city's probable future boundaries and service areas.
The spheres must be updated periodically and, in Ventura, LAFCO is recommending updates that reflect land protected under two growth-control laws, Save Our Agricultural Resources and the Hillside Voter Protection Act.
There are 14 areas, primarily on the city's edges, that will be discussed. City planners are suggesting that industrial-zoned properties remain in the city's sphere.
The City Council will meet at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 501 Poli St.
