Water turned back on for some

Water service was restored Thursday in some Ventura County beach communities, more than a week after mudslides damaged pipelines.

Water is now on in Solimar Beach, Seacliff and Faria, said Ron Merckling, a spokesman for the Casitas Municipal Water District.

But, he added, "We're cautioning that people still need to boil the water."

Stagnant water still needs to be flushed out of pipelines, which is expected to take until Monday. Then a 48-hour water-testing period will start.

Tap water should be boiled until further notice, according to the district. Dishwashers should not be used.

Officials expected to restore water to La Conchita and Mussel Shoals by today.

Residents will continue to have access to potable water from tanks stationed in the affected areas.
