Warm, clear weather here for awhile, forecasters say
A high-pressure system over the coast is responsible for the sun-drenched skies, said National Weather Service spokesman Bill Hoffer.
"It's simply Mother Nature trying to balance herself out," Hoffer said. "Weather is cyclical. Last week's storms were caused by a low-pressure system that has now been replaced by a high-pressure system that's brought us sunshine and a nice breeze."
Wednesday's temperatures topped off at 83 degrees for Ventura and 86 degrees for Oxnard. There will be a cooling trend for the rest of the week starting today, with a high of 75 degrees and a low of 51, National Weather Service spokesman Bruce Rockwell said.
The relief from last week's downpour included 15 mph winds, Weather Service officials said.
Hoffer said Ventura County coastal temperatures will be in the mid-40s and 50s for overnight lows with highs in the mid-60s and 70s until Tuesday.
There is a slight chance of rain by Wednesday afternoon, but it is too soon to tell if this system will bring as much rainfall as last week's storms, Hoffer said.
