Who: As tasting room manager at Sanford Winery & Vineyards, Chris Burroughs plays himself in an on-location scene featured in the movie "Sideways."
When: Tasting room hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, excepting major holidays. Tuesday, typically, is Burroughs' day off.
Information: 688-3300 or http://www.sanfordwinery.com.
Oscar gold: "Sideways" is up for five Academy Awards on Sunday, including best picture. Burroughs isn't sure yet whether he'll hit the "Sideways" party at the Hitching Post II restaurant that night, or stay home and watch the ceremony with friends and family. A deciding factor: whether ABC is one of the two channels he gets on his rarely watched TV set.
Reel vs. real: Miles (Paul Giamatti) describes Sanford's pinot noir vin gris as having "a soupcon of asparagus and a flutter of, like, a nutty Edam cheese." Burroughs begs to differ. "I have yet, in real life, to encounter those adjectives for that specific wine."
