Leaving Ventura County: About the series
Over the past four years, the median price for existing homes in
Ventura County has soared from $273,960 to a high of $626,730. As a
result, many families can no longer afford to buy homes and people who
have owned homes for years find themselves sitting on a pot of gold.
The result: people cashing out and moving to lower-cost areas. The Star
looks at where and why they have moved and what it could mean for the
future.
