Alliance report: Connecting the Dots

If residents of Ventura County are to move forward with strategies to manage growth in a sustainable fashion, they need to base their efforts on a common foundation of facts and implications. "The Road Ahead" hopes to help build that consensus by featuring the presentation and discussion of a new report compiled over the past year by the Ventura County Civic Alliance.

Titled "Connecting the Dots for Growth and Sustainability: How Current Trends Add Up," the report describes five key trends in population growth and urban development, and some of their implications for the economy, the environment and social equity in Ventura County. Civic Alliance members chose to focus on these trends after a detailed review of the many reports complied by researchers and government agencies regarding local city and county land use plans.

During the April 8 conference, members of the audience will be asked to respond to the Civic Alliance report as the first step in an evolving community conversation about Ventura County?s future and the role citizens will play in shaping it. If you don?t want to wait for the conference, or will not be able to attend, you can still read the report and provide your feedback. Simply download the report and the questionnaire, posted here as PDF files. When you have completed the questionnaire, return it by mail to the Ventura County Civic Alliance, 1317 Del Norte Road, Suite 150, Camarillo, CA 93010.
