Reflections of a Loving Heart
When we speak the truth with the loving warmth of an open heart that truth is heard and accepted.
I know from personal experience that I listen and give much greater consideration to comments and suggestions made to me when I can feel they are imbued with honest love and concern for me. I don't always agree or adopt the ideas and suggestions presented with love, and I always appreciate the loving concern for me and my welfare that is being expressed. I never take offense.
I've said some brutally honest things to friends of mine; sometimes even going so far as to preface my remarks with "I'm your friend and as your friend I feel it is my duty to be honest with you, even if I think you may not like what I have to say". The responses I've gotten vary from “What you said is all true" laced with tears of healing, to "I don't agree" said with a warm smile that belies the depth of caring and respect in the friendship. Either way, I know I was heard, and heard only because my care and concern was felt.
The expression, "no one cares how much you know until they know how much you care" is true at profoundly deep levels of communication.
How well our wisdom is heard is a reflection of how open our heart is when we share it.
