Joy as an Indication of Being Present
When our attention is on the present moment we experience joy and a profoundly deep sense of well being. From this state, so much of what usually seems so important, isn't. Just Being is enough.
I believe the truest measure of self respect is how far we stray from our awareness of a loving sense of well being before e stop and re center our awareness and attention on a peaceful state. We're all human, and as such make mistakes. Those mistakes are minimized by maintaining the maximum focus we can on our sense of well being. With practice we get better at it. Each incremental improvement dramatically improves our life.
From a joyful centered state, being human is fun, fascinating and forever new. The challenges and obstacles we encounter are more interesting than frustrating. Solving problems is more a fun game than a chore. Improving relationships is more an adventure than a struggle. The whole character and experience of life for us is upgraded when we are in a joyful centered state. Attaining and maintaining this state is something that we have complete dominion over. No one but us can remove our awareness and conscious connection and immersion from a joyful state; not the economy, not a relative, employee, client or even the weather. At times I've responded honestly then asked how business is with “It sucks, but I still have my sense of humor, so I'm doing great."
One of the most profound indications of being present is the absence of feeling that life is a grind; problems are overwhelming and wondering what's the point of anything. All that is replaced with love, wonder and a sense of adventure.
To be present and realize these great benefits requires we quiet the mind. This is eminently achievable. If you would like some ideas on how to do this, call me.
