Grabbn’ Dat Moola...

The Associated Press put out an article on 1-28-08 telling about various government "gangs" using sorta sneaky ways to part us from more of our hard earned tax money. They have all learned that if they call a money grab a "fee" or something else besides a tax they don’t have to worry about the damned pubic having a say on the subject.

In New York they are considering calling little cigars, cigarettes that way they can raise the tax on the "little cigars" without a vote of the public, they are also looking to redefine hard lemonade and other flavored alcohol drinks as liquor instead of beer so once again they can raise the tax without a vote.

In our city, Ventura, the Gang in the Ivory Tower calls the 911 charge a "fee", that way they can charge anything they want without a vote of people. They could raise the sewer charge by instituting a "flush" fee, every time you flush the loo, you would be charged a $2.00 fee, or if you wish you could simply pay a $200.00 yearly charge and then you could flush to your hearts content. The same thing could apply to the water bill, they could install a faucet fee, charging whenever you turn a faucet on. Road tax could be increased with a "tire fee" whenever your tires touch a road you could be charged a "fee". Sidewalk fee, Breathing air fee, there is no end to the possibilities.

What it all boils down as New York Assemblyman Richard Brodsky said, "You can raise taxes as much as you like as long as you don’t call it a tax".

So folks keep yer eyes open and yer ears tuned, the Gang in the Ivory Tower may have a few more tricks up their collective sleeves.
