Getting a letter published
To express a viewpoint or to comment on an issue of general interest, simply do one of the following:

- Letter writing guidelines-
- Keep letters short. No more than 300 words.
- Address only one topic in the letter. This will help keep it short.
- If the letter is in response to something published in The Star, please include the date the item appeared and the headline on the item.
- Most important, include your full name (not partial initials), full home street address and phone number on each letter you submit. E-mail addresses also are welcome. If your letter is published, you will only be identified by your name and city of residence.
- Remember, all letters are subject to editing.

Obituaries and death notices
Obituaries (paid) and death notices (free) can be placed from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday at our Ventura Office; or by fax Monday-Saturday at 805-482-6167. To view obituaries, click through here to http://obits.VenturaCountyStar.com. Obituaries are not accepted on Sundays. Copy must be submitted by noon for publication the following day, and is subject to editing for proper grammar. All private-party obituaries must be accompanied by proof of death and payment. Death notices also require proof of death.
